Identify the billing period
The payment date and service period are not always identical. A first bill can contain a part-period adjustment plus the next regular period. Compare dates before assuming the monthly commitment has increased.
Separate the components
Mark airtime, device repayments, additional usage, roaming and third-party subscriptions. Look for credits as well as debits. A plan allowance may exclude premium numbers, overseas calls or particular services.
Know what a cap controls
Ask which categories a spending cap actually covers, when a change takes effect and whether device repayments sit outside it. Turning off mobile data does not stop all types of billable activity.
Raise a precise query
Give the provider the disputed line, date and reason. Keep a copy of the bill with account details protected. We can explain the categories, but cannot inspect or amend your account.
