01

How the service developed

BT’s mobile history includes a consumer return in 2015 and its acquisition of EE in 2016. Existing BT Mobile customers and people seeking new service can face different routes.

02

SIMs, monthly service and prepaid use

Check current eligibility directly: an existing BT Mobile agreement is not evidence that the same product remains available to new customers. Review any family or linked-service condition before changing another BT service.

03

Features, eSIM and account tools

Use the official BT account and mobile help for an existing line. Digital SIM eligibility must be confirmed for that specific service; an EE-branded eSIM process should not be assumed to work for BT Mobile.

04

Travel and overseas use

Read the travel terms associated with the BT account and its start date. Any linked benefit should be checked for continuing eligibility.

05

A practical view of suitability

When moving within a business group, ask whether the process is an internal migration or a provider switch. The account team should explain the number-transfer route.

06

Coverage: make it personal

For BT Mobile, start with the official checker and the locations where you need calls and data. Look for an outage before attributing a sudden change to the plan. Building construction, terrain, congestion and handset capability all affect the experience. A prediction of coverage cannot guarantee reception in every room.

07

Understand a bill before changing service

On a BT Mobile account, establish which charges belong to regular service and which arise from additional use or another agreement. Compare the dates, renewal settings and any device component. We do not label a bill high or low without knowing the obligations and usage behind it. Only the account provider can inspect or amend those records.

08

Keep your number or leave the service

If moving a BT Mobile number to a different provider, read the PAC process before cancelling. A valid transfer does not remove an outstanding device balance or other contractual obligation. If staying with the same provider, ask whether an internal change rather than a PAC is required. Our switching fieldnote explains the general routes.

09

What to confirm before deciding

Write down your required data use, local reception, travel needs and preferred support channel. Then compare them with the actual BT Mobile document for your account type. Check benefit expiry, renewal and cancellation conditions. Avoid using a historic advert as proof of present eligibility.
