01

How the service developed

iD Mobile launched in 2015 and is part of Currys. It uses Three’s network while managing its own plans, bills and support.

02

SIMs, monthly service and prepaid use

Phone contracts and SIM-only service have different obligations. Examine any rollover or bill-cap feature against the exclusions. A cap may not control every possible third-party or premium charge.

03

Features, eSIM and account tools

The iD Mobile app and online account manage usage and replacement SIMs. Its published eSIM service is for supported mobile phones, with tablets and wearables excluded in the current explanation.

04

Travel and overseas use

Check the included destinations, fair-use allowance and out-of-zone treatment with iD. A host network’s travel programme is not the same product.

05

A practical view of suitability

A useful bill investigation starts with the date and usage category. Record when a cap or allowance changed rather than assuming a new setting applies retrospectively.

06

Coverage: make it personal

For iD Mobile, start with the official checker and the locations where you need calls and data. Look for an outage before attributing a sudden change to the plan. Building construction, terrain, congestion and handset capability all affect the experience. A prediction of coverage cannot guarantee reception in every room.

07

Understand a bill before changing service

On a iD Mobile account, establish which charges belong to regular service and which arise from additional use or another agreement. Compare the dates, renewal settings and any device component. We do not label a bill high or low without knowing the obligations and usage behind it. Only the account provider can inspect or amend those records.

08

Keep your number or leave the service

If moving a iD Mobile number to a different provider, read the PAC process before cancelling. A valid transfer does not remove an outstanding device balance or other contractual obligation. If staying with the same provider, ask whether an internal change rather than a PAC is required. Our switching fieldnote explains the general routes.

09

What to confirm before deciding

Write down your required data use, local reception, travel needs and preferred support channel. Then compare them with the actual iD Mobile document for your account type. Check benefit expiry, renewal and cancellation conditions. Avoid using a historic advert as proof of present eligibility.
